6. STOP MAKING EXCUSES
God has destined you to be overweight. You are not incapable of going to the gym because you are too out of shape and will fall down. Everyone is going to stare at you the entire time you're exercising because you're fat and it will jiggle and look gross. All of those statements are excuses I used to justify avoiding working out. I was in serious denial (more on this number below). 7. CUT DOWN THE DAIRY INTAKE A nice warm class of almond milk right before bed has me asleep in no time. Now, I'm not vegan so technically vegetarians can drink cow's milk I just chose not to. The hormonal injections, the pesticides swimming in the liquid, the pus from the cow's udders (because machine's pump the cow's not friendly farmers. Machines are rough, cow udders are not. Hence the blood and pus dripped in the milk from abrasive metal hooks pulling at the cow) are all huge turn offs for me. Cutting back or completely ditching dairy will cause you to lose weight, improve your digestion, and thwart your risk of diabetes. Here's some websites with more detailed information and first hand accounts of the dairy- free life. http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/6-things-happened-when-i-gave-dairy http://www.eatthis.com/things-that-happen-to-your-body-when-you-give-up-dairy 8. STRETCH My right leg use to feel like it was injected with shards of glass every time I walked. It hurt so badly sometimes I almost went to the doctor to see what was wrong. When I started doing Pilates for a week the pain almost completely disappeared. Your limbs need to be stretched for a number of reasons. It helps blood circulation, flexibility- range of motion for joints, increase energy levels, improve posture, enhance muscular coordination, and overall well-being. Stretching before and after your workout helps you to perform better at the gym and avoid extreme soreness for the next day. So...downward facing dog anyone? :) 9. SET GOALS After buy a car, lose 40 pounds was number 2 on my "To Do List". I had to know exactly what I wanted in order to fulfill it. Setting goals helps you to keep track of how far you've come and figure out the rest of the distance to the end. Make a plan, write it down, and stick to it. 10. STAY AWAY FROM BAD INFLUENCES If you're friends know you're trying to lose weight and they continually pressure you to eat badly, they aren't your friends- (more on this number below). |
The 10 Commandments

#GET FIT 2016 |
All the "commandments" I listed above are things I've done that I feel have helped me to lose weight. If you don't believe in 1 or 2 things on the list then by all means don't do it. However, everything on the list is a positive thing so it wouldn't hurt to try. For me the most important were numbers 4, 6, and 10. I think the big reason why I failed to lose weight was my mindset. I did not believe that I could do it so it was never possible for me. I couldn't actually see my end goal so when I ran 2 miles on the treadmill (ha, let me stop playing, more like walked 1/3 of a mile) I didn't think it would really do anything for me in the long run.
4. Speaking of treadmills I use to HATE that thing! You have to use so much energy and I just couldn't muster up the strength most days so I avoided it. When I got serious about my gym time I started out doing what I loved to do so I wouldn't get frustrated and treat working out like a chore. I absolutely kill the elliptical so I enjoyed that and I also did Pilates in my room from YouTube. Be creative and don't bore yourself when you're making this huge change. Because you will backslide if you don't like what you're doing. |
